The birds, the bunnies, the happy songs...

Feh.

This evening as I was making the rounds with the hay cart, putting the ration in each horse's tub, I realized I had a close escort of five rabbits. They were within three or four feet, hopping along, waiting for me to hurry up and drop some alfalfa so they could have dinner.

Usually during the day, every water barrel has a rabbit flopped in its shade. With more rabbits scattered here, there, and everywhere.

Yesterday as I was thumping around in the barn, grooming and saddling up Capria, two of the rabbits were sacked out right outside--again, just a few feet away. They had each made a rabbit-shaped depression in the ground between the feed area and the foaling stall. One was flopped but awake. The other was sprawled out flat, sound asleep. It didn't budge for anything I did.

Some of my cats aren't even that tame.

In other news, Taminy is home. The vet thinks he can stay home now. He had a reaction to the meds, so is off them. Wound is healing. He's eating nonstop. He has to stay quiet for a while, and have a wound cleaning twice a day, but he doesn't mind that. He has to go back on his allergy meds soon, but I'm going to wait a bit and see if he heals up first.

He is even eating dry food. And cat treats. That's a big deal, at this point.

I really do hope this is it for the Five-Million-Dollar Cat. He's had his share of the vet bill for the year, for sure.

Go You!

The bunnies don't spook the horses. They have a nice rapport going, for the most part. Pooka chases them (they sneer and stay just out of reach), and if a baby bunny gets into the stall with one of the horses, it's roadkill. Otherwise they get along well.
