The birds, the bunnies, the happy songs...

Feh.

This evening as I was making the rounds with the hay cart, putting the ration in each horse's tub, I realized I had a close escort of five rabbits. They were within three or four feet, hopping along, waiting for me to hurry up and drop some alfalfa so they could have dinner.

Usually during the day, every water barrel has a rabbit flopped in its shade. With more rabbits scattered here, there, and everywhere.

Yesterday as I was thumping around in the barn, grooming and saddling up Capria, two of the rabbits were sacked out right outside--again, just a few feet away. They had each made a rabbit-shaped depression in the ground between the feed area and the foaling stall. One was flopped but awake. The other was sprawled out flat, sound asleep. It didn't budge for anything I did.

Some of my cats aren't even that tame.

In other news, Taminy is home. The vet thinks he can stay home now. He had a reaction to the meds, so is off them. Wound is healing. He's eating nonstop. He has to stay quiet for a while, and have a wound cleaning twice a day, but he doesn't mind that. He has to go back on his allergy meds soon, but I'm going to wait a bit and see if he heals up first.

He is even eating dry food. And cat treats. That's a big deal, at this point.

I really do hope this is it for the Five-Million-Dollar Cat. He's had his share of the vet bill for the year, for sure.

So do I!

Re the "tame" rabbits: It could be worse. You could have skunks.

The bunnies know you are good people. Bet if one of them startles a horse tho... Stew pot.

How is your quail covey? Seen them lately? The Roadrunner family?

I am really glad Taminy is on the mend. Silly lovable hunk.

I seem to be on the mend as well. Testing stopped last Thursday and I sat up today and looked around.

Go You!

The bunnies don't spook the horses. They have a nice rapport going, for the most part. Pooka chases them (they sneer and stay just out of reach), and if a baby bunny gets into the stall with one of the horses, it's roadkill. Otherwise they get along well.

Woot! about Taminy. Here's hoping his recovery goes both quickly and easily from here on out.

Every time I've been to your place, I've noticed the exceptionally tame bunnies. I've never seen quite so many as you described, but there's usually two or three hanging about and napping in the shade. In fact, I think I may have a picture of one or two of them from that group of photos I took when I stayed at DHF last month. Must remember to get those on a disk for you....

I think there's a sign on the property: "Rabbit Heaven Here."

We do have skunks in Arizona. Fortunately they're not all that common.

Taminy is doing pretty well today, knock silicon. May it continue. I'm tapped out on trips to the cat hospital.

Look for the sign....

...it's probably drawn on the signpost at the entrance to DHF. It will look like a happy walking kitty cat drawn by a child. It's the old hobo sign for "Kind lady lives here."

Implying food and temporary shelter in the barn, shed, back yard under a tree, no constables.... %^)

(You may have to look at about ankle level, but who knows? Maybe a cat stretched up and wrote it at knee level!)
