There will be neep and holiday urble-burble soon, but in the meantime, here's an update on the new ventures:

BOOK SALE continues. The Orb Hound&Falcon omnibus is sold out. We still have both Avaryan 3-in-1's, a limited number of A Wind in Cairo and Ars Magica, and Alamut and The Dagger and the Cross in hardcover and mass market. Other Tarr titles are available, email and ask. Prices are $35 hardcover, $25 trade paper and the Cairo mass market which is hensteeth rare, and $15 mass market. I take PayPal; if you pay by credit card, please add 3%.

Shipping is free on these volumes until January 15th, then it will run $5 per book hardcover and trade paper, $2 per for mass market. For that you get Priority Mail or First Class depending on weight.

MENTORING is still available and the sale goes on until January 15th: 4 hours for $100. After that (and if you want additional hours) it's $35 per hour. [livejournal.com profile] klwilliams pointed out that an estimate of time would be helpful. For novel mss., a structural evaluation and consultation for a 75,000-word ms. would run between 3 and 6 hours depending on how much work needs to be done. If you've bought a sale package, we'll give you 4 hours and then you can decide if you want to continue. Shorter work and "custom" arrangements vary by the nature and length of the project. Standard, non-sale billing is in two-hour chunks, with the first two hours ($70) paid up front. This is more than a critique service--I'll also help with blockages, structural and technical questions, plotting, development, and anything else we can agree on. I'm a sounding board for your writer incarnation, and while we hope and expect that you will end up with a viable ms., where and when I enter and leave the process is entirely up to you. Email if you have questions and I'll be happy to answer. :)

HORSE CAMP FOR WRITERS will be announcing its first session shortly--we're at the deciding on which weekend stage now. The two finalists for dates are February 17th-19th (President's Weekend--if the attendees would rather go Saturday through Monday, we can do that) and February 24th-26th. One boarder is already booked. There is space for a second boarder and four "day campers" at the beta rate of $250 per person boarders/$150 per person day campers. Meals and events are included in both packages. $100 deposit (nonrefundable but is transferable) holds your space. The rest is payable in full two weeks before the event.

If you want to do this, now's your time. I'll work up an application form and email it on request. Payment by PayPal (add 3% for credit cards) or check--email for details. Because this is a beta version, we'll be working out the format as we go, and that includes how basic or advanced the session is. We will tailor the information we provide to your needs--whether you're looking for general equine facts or specific information for a current project. Our boarder so far has a book due and wants to make sure the horses are accurate, for example--and the horses have a fantasy wrinkle, which will add to the fun.

Email me at capriole at smoe dot org if you are interested in any of the above. Potential horse campers take note that February is a great time to be in Tucson, and we're plotting a lively and exciting inaugural session.

Judy, was A Wind in Cairo only published in paperback? If there is a hardcover of it, I'd be interested in it. I already have the paperback.

Thanks,
Marilyn
