To Start the New Year Right
Jan. 1st, 2005 06:38 pmAnd I did make like a creamed turnip all afternoon--watched a Buffy episode and a Monk episode and did e-mail. It was good. Then Capria got a longe--she was moving nicely--and da Pook got a ride. It was the best ride we've had in a long time. We worked on bending and straightness, serpentines and figures, in walk, then tried some trot. He was fussy at first, saying bad words and threatening to blow, but we came to terms and he gave me a light, balanced trot and a few easy figures. Then after he went up to the tack shed to get his saddle off, he didn't want to go back for his dinner. He took me out across the uncleared acreage to the road, then we went for a bit of a walk.
I love it when he doesn't want to eat--he wants to keep on doing things with his human. It's a great omen for a new year. A great ride, many good things going on in it (being more in front of the leg and more on the aids), and a great attitude about the work in general. May there be many more such rides, all year long.
