Slowly we crawl back to [a] reality and [b] coherence. Today featured killing a credit card (one more to go, later this week) since the refi check showed up in my account. Plastic death is always a pleasant sight, and this one is totally dead, gone, closed, over with, oh yeah. Then I excavated the storage shed, got rid of all the old boxes, and cleaned and swept it--rather important in terms of getting at the horse blankets once the winter storms start. Topped off the day with a short trail ride on keed, who was ready and willin'. I think I'll sleep well tonight.

Not ready to write first-draft fiction yet. I think the rest of the week will feature some second-draft collaboration and some reading, plotting, and pondering of the remainder of the second horse book, Song of Unmaking. I caught myself smiling this morning as it s l o w l y sank in that the Summer of Hell is over, the book that was killing me is done (Mme Ye Ed let me know the hardcopy arrived today--e-copy reached her last week), refi-from-hell is done I hopeandpray please god, and the projects I have on my plate are all a whole lot of fun.

Ponies are happy. They all got worked yesterday. Pook has been studying: after almost ten days off, he not only remembered his work, he'd improved on it. He's decided trot under saddle is, like, no big deal, man, and he likes being collected in a rather advanced fashion (compared to the average pea-greenie) for his transitions. We are still negotiating how much control he'll let me take, but I'm gradually convincing him that yes, for real, I do get to steer.

Moon's full tonight--the harvest moon. If I had any energy, or enough guts, I'd go for a moonlight ride. Maybe tomorrow night.

I murdered my last credit card over two years ago, and quite honestly I haven't missed them since.

Ditto with the cell phone.

Sounds like the summer of hell is, indeed, over.
