So good to know I have such good company in the post-novel collapse brigade. There's something about completing a project of that length and level of mental energy that just does one in.

Then one has to pick oneself up more or less promptly and do it all over again.

Yesterday was about being able to stay up most of the day without keeling over, and make it to dinner with [livejournal.com profile] casacorona in the evening. Excellent food, excellent company, excellent book discussion which will produce more books down the line. I just finished off my leftovers--they held over well and made a very good lunch. We now have a new restaurant to add to the shortlist of regular places: The Agave at the Desert Diamond Casino aka den of sin and iniquity but the food sure is good. Not a vegetarian haven by any means, but if your taste is good meat and fish well prepared with lots of fruits and veggies included, it's a good place to go.

Today I got back in the saddle. Ponied keed off Capria, fairly short ride as everybody's been off for a week, but they were happy to go out. Then Camilla got walkies and groundwork, working on trust and relaxation and Focus On The Human. This is still a matter for anxiety, but she's getting better. She's obsessed with doing it perfectly the first time, which is always a problem with a gifted kid.

There's a distinctly autumnal feel in the air. This morning was a bit chilly, with a brisk wind blowing. It's warmed up now, but not by a tremendous lot--relative to the triple digits of barely more than a week ago. I'm getting urges to eat apples instead of summer berries. Weird quirk of the seasonal palate.

This evening's plan, unless I go comatose and wake up too late (the days are much shorter now), is to ride da Pook. He's agitating for his turn.

Today I got back in the saddle.

It took me a moment to realize you meant that literally, rather than meaning you were getting back to work writing. It reminded me of the fairly regular realization I have that when I say, "I'm going to go finish a book," I mean something else *entirely* than most people mean.
