Happened across this
while work-avoiding this morning. The Knabstrupper is the Danish colored baroque horse--basic standard is Lipp-in-leopard-print. A program in I believe Texas is breeding them using Danish stallions and Appaloosa mares.

(And now you know I have a secret yen for LOUD-colored horses. Side effect of being Doomed to Grey.)

Dalmation horses!

I must say that my first thought on reading "LOUD-colored horses" was, "I wonder if they come in hot pink!" :)

Yeah, I've seen that site before, and I just wonder, though. Their breeding stock looks awful "Appaloosa", in that... most of those horses, including that approved stallion, have the little wiry Appy/QH build. I don't see anything remotely baroque about most of these horses. I do think the second foal, the darker one, is a real cutie, though. My guess though, being that this IS the US we're talking about here, and the breeding stock, is that the Knabstrupper in the US wont be much more than an Appaloosa with a different name, though I hope that doesn't happen.

No turquoise? %^) Cute foals, tho--

Did you browse farther? The champion King Charles Spaniel has the name of Annakin.... could there be a not-so-closet Star Wars fan lurking here?

Wow! I noticed a few horses in the Olympics who were brown but had 4 white knee-hi's. I wonder if they were related.
