Oh yeah, it's been forever. I've moved the daily stuff and the horse neep to facebook, where most of the people seem to have gone. But some things work better in this format--and there are still people here who aren't doing facebook. So here I am.

I'm reopening my editing/mentoring list to new and repeat clients starting August 15th. At that point my hourly rate will go up as well, to $60. In the meantime, I'm having a sale. If you sign up and pay for a block of five hours between now and August 15th, the cost is $225--$25 off the old rate and $75 off the new.

For a summary of what I do, how to pay, etc., look here.

I am also taking reservations for Horse Camp between October and March. One Camp a month, one or two (or three max) people, hot and cold running (and leaping and dancing and snorfling all over you) Lipizzans.

I am contemplating starting an online writers' group/class, weekly meetings, set up in modules--plot, character, developing ideas, novel, short fiction, etc. Or we might do a combination of those. Structure and pricing to be determined. If that interests you, let me know in comments. I'll be working on the details of that over the next couple of weeks. Feel free to make suggestions, requests, demands, etc., etc.

There's more in the works, but that's what I have today. We are Busy! We have Plans!

ETAAnd if you wonder what I do and how I do it, here's a description from Linda Nagata, whose Nebula nominee I edited (and oh, am I proud of it and her).

What a great idea, Judy - I'd love to participate! - Joni

That would explain a horrible lot.

Now that I finally am riding regularly AND have an honest-to-goodness writing work-in-progress (or two), I might be able to justify treating myself to Horse Camp.
I'd be very very interested in the online group/class, if membership is open to complete newbies.

Keep me posted, and I'll keep you posted on the class concept. Working on it!

Hey Judy! :)
Miss reading you on here - I feel as if LJ has turned into this huge empty ghost town ever since FB got really popular.

Hope everything is good with you and the horses.

This is a good reminder that there's still a community here. I'll definitely have to play more in my own lj--I still read and comment on what's left of the friendslist.

LJ aten't dead yet. And there are hopes that under the new management, some of the more offputting changes will not be forced upon users. (I strayed upon the friends feed the other day because LJ ate my cookie. Ugh.)

Working on it! I'll use lj as the point of information--it ports to a slew of other places.

I mean you absolutely no harm!!. my name is Makowa Naranjo. that's my REAL name. I'm native american. I was born in New Mexico. my father still lives there.

I think I have sent you some pictures and videos of horseback riding.

I have told you that I'm a writer. it was only suggested to me that I use an alias to protect myself online. I hate to not tell the truth. I'm very sorry about this.

I have rode horses for 8 years about. I saw your camp and it sounds very interesting.

I'm not sure when, but if I ever came out west again, I might want to drop by.

horses make this world something much greater and magical.

have you gotten any emails from Makowa Naranjo??.

more about me

so now that we know my true name is Makowa Naranjo. I'm going to tell some more about me.

I tried to ride horses when I was 6, but wasn't good at it. or even so I did not feel good at it, since I could not even ride a bike till I was 10 or 11.

I started again at 16 and picked it right up. now it is a great focus which I do every week at least twice.

the first book of yours I read earlier this year, also an early book of yours A Wind In Cairo. absolutely the best!! and will be that way forever.

I hope that you have gotten my videos of horses I have ridden so far.

I really hope that you can trust that I'm telling you the truth about all of this.

I truly again am very sorry again for this and will not post again if that is appropriate.

No problem at all. I get spammers wanting things best left undescribed. Apologies for being a little bit paranoid. Another horse person is always welcome in this lj and over on facebook.

I haven't received any email, but if you post on facebook, I should be able to see it.

I'm so glad we are now in the clear on this!. I will have to talk to my mother about if or if not I can put any videos or pictures on facebook. I got this facebook account so that I could see things that my other friends put on theirs, but facebook is a tricky business and there are plenty of risks.
once you're in, you're really IN!. they have records of everything and they always know right where you are.

if my mother permits it and I can share anything over facebook with you, then it WILL have to stay between us, which I believe is possible.

I have just finished writing a book with 3 parts, each is 69 chapters long!!. I don't remember how many the final part has.

I'm writing a story about a horse that I once rode, she's gone now, but she was like no other horse I ever rode. she was almost too smart!. like Khamsin. some horses I think may be mean because they are smart. she wasn't mean, quite, but was grumpy and chose her way about everything, not spoiled either, just opinionated.

she still took care of me and saved me once!. she likely knew everything everyone was saying around her. I once rode her poorly and she nipped at me for calling myself bad things. WOW!. she was being sophisticated. she was telling me, "oh stop that!!" you don't need to talk like that!.

I have some pictures of her. I'm not sure why my emails haven't gone through to you. BUT HEY!, what if you check me out on Flickr sometime!. I could tell you how to get there. it has lots of pictures of me and the horses, but I must tell you there are over 620 so far!. I will still ask my mother about sharing over Facebook, but I'm not sure if she will allow it. she ALSO does not want something to happen online and there's no way to get out of it.
