DHF is getting out of breeding and concentrating on the riding (and, of course, Camp Lipizzan). The two half-sisters were bred specifically for the broodmare band, but both are excellent riding prospects. Questions or interest? Email capriole at gmail dot com.

GLORIOSA II ("Ephiny"), 2002 purebred mare (Favory II Bonasera III x Gabriella II [x Pluto III Belvedera]). 15.1 hands. Beautiful mare, one of the few purebred daughters of her sire. Big, scopey movement with huge stride. Leads, loads, ties. Has had her basics, including familiarization with bridle and saddle. Ready to back and start. This is a serious dressage prospect, with her movement, balance, and charisma. $9000.

GALATEA ("Tia"), 2005 purebred mare (Neapolitano Slatana II x Gabriella II). 14.3 hands (should mature to 15 hands). Smart, sassy, delightful young mare. "Self-training"--if I'm working one of the others, she'll join us and copy the exercises and figures. That's motivation! Leads, loads, ties. Has started longeing. Ready to breed or start under under saddle. $8500.

DHF KHEPERA, 1995 Arab/Lipizzan gelding (Shalimar Jordie x Capria). Double-registered Half-Arabian and Lipizzan Crossbred. 15.1 hands. Sound, sane, well-trained riding gelding. Trained to second level in dressage; excellent on trails. Goes Western as well as English/dressage. $5000.

If I lived a slightly different life I would so make you an offer on Tia. I've faunched after her since she was born.

Of course, I'd under-utilize her, so not a good fit anyway.

Le sigh.

Just watch out -- Tia may have something to say about whether or not it is "a fit" ;).

Also, J, I'll cross post this to FB when I am home and can access it (it's blocked at work) -- that should get awareness to the usual suspects.

I am not a believer in the theory that one can "under-utilize" a horse. One can only under-love or neglect one. If the horse is well-cared-for, and the owner and horse are happy, that is sufficient "utilization".

Horses can get bored, though. I'm purely a trail rider, not anything that would challenge that brain.

And, anyway, having looked at boarding prices...ack. Not until I sell another book or three... :-(

We've no more room at the inn for the moment, and the next horse has to be 'husband friendly.' :( 'cuz I really like that Ephiny gal.

Ephiny could be husband friendly. She has a wonderful mind and disposition.

Unfortunately I have to be fair here and let my DH find/pick/be chosen by his own horse when we are ready to take on another. Though I am primary caregiver, he deserves a mount that he fancies -- not that he wouldn't fancy Ephiny, but my two Lip geldings have given him such the cold shoulder that he feels a bit put out. He says they "tolerate him." I am afraid they haven't given him the best impression of the breed. Boys. :/

Oh, gods. I adore Khepera, and wish to god I was in a position to make an offer on him. Here's hoping they all find good, loving homes.

Life w/o horses sucks.
Liz is in Army basic atm. Luckily I get her home for the holidays---life w/o Liz, also sucks.

Luckily, as you coined it, I have my own version of boot camp to keep me preoccupied.

;)

Gorgeous and lovely. (White mares!)

Alas, I have to keep telling myself I'm on a potato chip diet. I can only have one hayburner.

But he's a lovable hayburner.

Oh, Khepera--there's a part of me that wants to buy him just so he can stay close to home ... I really can't (for several reasons) but I hope he does find a home as most excellent as his current one.

You're selling The Keed? Oh, Judy, if only I were in a position to buy a horse. I've loved him since he was foaled.

The logistics alone (and the fact that I'm a poor TA with a backyard the size of a postage stamp) frighten me, but oh, so tempting... Especially since I adore Tia and Khepera was really awesome too. PONIES! If you have anything for sale in 4-5 years and I actually have a tenure-track position or live someplace where I can have/afford horses...

am chiming in with sea pony...

She is still for sale. We'll be backing her in the next month or so.

I'm another "Oh, I wish" person. I loved Ephiny the moment I met her back when we visited in the summer of '04.
