The Evening After the Night Before
May. 13th, 2004 09:05 pmAnd again thanks to all for healing vibes and nice messages. I shall attempt to find arnica tomorrow. Have to go out and get the cat food from Trader Joe's that Taminy will eat, versus the stuff I got him at the supermarket yesterday that he says is strictly from eh.
He is now standing up mewping at me every time I go in to check on him. Wound is gruesome but clean--doing what the vet wants it to do.
Anybody know what's safe to give a cat for gut flora when on antibiotics? With a dog or horse I'd do yogurt, but I'm not so sure about cats.
Meanwhile I rode Capria this evening. That was interesting. Found two more big owies: shoulderblade and inner-thigh muscle. I didn't land on my head; one thing about my early riding training, I learned to let go and fall and roll--when a fall is inevitable, pick your moment as much as you can, and don't tense up--so I hit with the hip first, then right arm, and somersaulted from there. The inner thigh is from being yanked sideways out of the saddle in the first freakout.
This is the third fall off a Lipizzan in twelve years--the other two were equipment failures. Have never gone off either Capria or keed. I don't plan to go off Pook again, either. Or Camilla ever. Falls are not a habit here. This was pure Stupid Human Trick.
At any rate, it wasn't an awful ride; Capria was very good to me and we even had some collected canter, which was rather surreal with the way I was feeling at the time. She was deeply happy with the ride, even as messed up as I was. She does love her job.
In other news, I had word today that Kingdom of the Grail is coming out from Roc in mass market--in October, to coincide with the trade publication of Rite of Conquest. Go us!
