My life is happening in 140-character chunks. With photos. That's the only explanation.

Also, working hard on the BVC thing, with hope of longterm fame and fortune (i.e. keeping the horses in the style to which they have informed me they are accustomed). There's a new horseblog up, and a new story goes up tomorrow--another gonzo special, alternate history this time. Julius Caesar as capo. Next week story day switches to Mondays, and I'm putting up something really special to start off the new day.

I'm playing in BVC's Steampunk anthology, which is one whole hell of a lot of fun. [livejournal.com profile] ramblin_phyl discovered our stories meshed beautifully, so we'll be taking particular pleasure in the "shared" part of shared world. I sincerely hope this baby takes off, because I want to do sequels. Oh, do I want to do sequels!

Mostly, after years of feeling severely down about anything and everything I wrote, no matter how well received, I'm excited about it again. I like it. I want to tell people about it. Instead of kicking the box into a corner and succumbing to a ferocious attack of impostor syndrome. New ideas and new projects are pouring out. Some will go the traditional route. Some won't. Best part? I've got my mojo back. Writing is a blast again. I've got fantasy projects (Brennan IV is happening, among other things), sf projects (including one that's so cracked out I can't wait to do it), long projects, short projects. Reprints, new stuff, old stuff made new again--wait till you see what I get up to on BVC early next year. And we're getting A Wind in Cairo together for the lulu experiment. Almost ready to set it loose.

Horse book for kids under Caitlin Brennan pseudonym has the first glimmer of a pub date from Tor: Fall 2010. Editorial notes for round the last of polish (we hope) will be on their way shortly. This one is fun. Magic horses. Kids in peril. Arizona. What's not to love?

I got the crud and haven't ridden for a couple of days, but hope to remedy that this evening. I've been trying to keep up with the horses, weather and energy permitting. Am focused on getting Ephiny going under saddle at last this fall. She's ready; just needs some initial bodywork (I always do that with the youngsters before I back them) and then we can concentrate on making it happen. Tia is right behind her, but not yet ready to sit on--however she can longe and ground-drive. The rest of the crew are ridin' hosses for sure, including Camilla, who is finally over her bout of Trainer Toxicity and is turning into a very nice and dedicated riding partner. She mainly needs me to be very very balanced and very light, and I can finally do that. I trust myself, and her, enough.

Carrma is waiting impatiently for [livejournal.com profile] tcastleb to move to Tucson and worship her full time. That starts next week. And if you don't think that mare runs the universe, consider that she found a human, got her to move from San Diego, and fully expects to spend the rest of her life collecting adoration. And cookies.

Kitty cuteness continues unabated. They're 14 months old now. Getting big. But still The Kittens.

The one thing I need is a vacation, and a chance to sleep in. But that's not happening. Good thing I love my job.

I'm so glad things are looking way, waaay up.

The project for which I would have required guidance has been delayed thanks to the wip, which I've been informed needs more work. So, late in the year...by which time you will be so busy you will no have time. But that would be a good thing.

I feel like a terrible slacker until I realize I'm also taking care of a horse farm. Uh, yeah. It is a lot of work.

I am aiming for concise. In person, I think you would very quickly end up smooshed in a hug of gratitude and joy for you.

Sleeping in? That's like getting up at 6 AM, right?

Not A Morning Person here. That's going to bed at 1 a.m. and getting up at 9 instead of 6 or, lately, 7 because I'm seriously dragging these days.

Great news about writing being exciting again! You rank very high on my all-time favorite authors list, so more books coming is a great thing.

Wow, I will most certainly buy a magic-horse-in-Arizona book. My husband already claims I try and work talking horses into too many of my stories, though most of those have a California setting.

That sounds like just the thing I would have devoured when I was... um... well, any time in my life from age 3 on up to 38! I grew up on 1930's era horse westerns, and am currently enjoying some old Zane Grey. I'm pretty new to the BVC and your blog, but have been really enjoying it. Thanks!

How many horses, dogs, and cats (and any other dependent animals) are you keeping nowadays, single-handed? They sound like full time occupation right there, and you have no one else to do it for you.

None of those will go away. I'm amazed you also find time to write, regardless how necessary writing is to all the rest.

Eight horses, two dogs, five cats, and probably a partridge in a pear tree, though it's more likely a quail in a lime tree.

Ferocious time management. Landscaping that either fends for itself or can survive with annual attacks of the loppers (often courtesy of an energetic guest). No grass to mow, which is huge.

[livejournal.com profile] tcastleb is leasing Carrma, and will be picking up some slack starting later this week. We are all very happy about this.
