dancinghorseSometimes I go into Laconic mode, as in, I don't have much to say to anyone, so I don't say anything. And this year has been wearing me out.
However you are all owed a lot of updates, and there is news. My dad is home, rather miraculously, and doing well with the help of a lot of support staff.![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
smoemeth has also (briefly) returned home, and my aunt will be arriving tomorrow for a long weekend, with intent to help my mom, which she will do, a lot.
On the book front, The Serpent and the Rose has been nominated for ALA Best Book for Young Adults. This is further proof that I have no ability whatsoever to judge my own work, because I would never have expected as much buzz as this one is getting. Tor certainly has done its job of getting the book out there.
The crapstorm continues, in various ways. I now need expensive dental work to go with all the other expensive repairs and replacements. Camilla has orchestrated her usual Pooka-feet-disaster to coincide with the latest Torture Lady clinic--this time he dinged his left fore, then reinjured it, and is on stall rest for a week. He is Not Amused. I told him to stop with the clinic avoidance already. He's off breeding season, too, until his leg is better, so that ought to motivate him. Watching him calculate the logistics of getting the job done with Pandora is worth the price of admission. (Starfighter meets Death Star. Much maneuvering ensues.)
TL will be here next weekend--the 27th-29th. All ride slots are filled and then some (mostly by Lipizzans--we're calling it Lipi-Con), but auditing is free, just bring a chair and whatever you like to drink. There will be food, lots of it, and plenty of heavy-duty learning happening. This is a moveable feast as usual--part will be in Marana. The parts that will be here will happen on Friday from 6:30 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. onward including dinner and a lecture (lecture is $10 for them as hasn't had at least 3 clinic rides), and Sunday from 6:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Come on down!
