Oh my did I speak too soon.

This morning I get up and turn the puter on, and it's not looking right. New drivers are corrupted. Files are missing that were there yesterday.

Eleven hours and a complete reinstall of the OS and all files and drivers later (with two short breaks to feed horses), I might have it working, except McAfee now won't allow me to send mail from smoe. I did not have this problem with the identical download and settings yesterday. At this point I can't even begin to troubleshoot it. My brain boiled out my ears hours ago.

I am in hell. Hell, I tell you. Any smoemail sent to me yesterday is lost. gmail is still there. I have my documents; those are on CD.

If this round doesn't work, High Drama is indicated.

Have I mentioned I've lost a week of work to this?

High Drama. High Drama.

Ditch McAfee - go to www.avast.com - it's free and rocks!

I cannot help you at all; I'm a complete computer moron. And I'm sorry that this is boiling your brains, I truly am. However, the thought that occured immediately after "OMG, I'm so sorry!" was:

Well, if it isn't HIGH drama, what's the point of drama at all? If you're gonna have drama, make it high drama.

Sympathies!

I found PC-cillin played nicer with my mail program than other visrus software, FWIW.

Yes, definitely get McAfee out of the picture next time you're compos mentis, and see if that helps. (McAfee started freaking out on me today, too -- maybe it got some sort of Sign from the Mothership? :})

I'm sorry you're having to deal with all this suckage. :/

Glurk. This does not sound nice. I hope you get everything sorted out soon, and that the ideas you've developed will still be there.

AAGGGHHH.... this is when it is perfectly acceptable to take a hammer to something and smash it to little tiny unrecognizeable bits.

I can not tell you how sorry I am. Yes, dump McAffee. I have had tons of troubles with it during the tests I administer. First step in the basic instructions is disable McAffee. (Second step is disable Norton. First Alert seems to be ok)
