I still don't believe I survived yesterday. Horse chores followed by lesson followed by work followed by vet giving Oreo his first shots followed by more work followed by expedition to airport to pick up [livejournal.com profile] smoemeth followed by Family Thing followed by birthday dinner for mom followed by grocery shopping followed by final farm chores followed by late thuddage. Today has merely featured a lot of online racing around, horse chores, and brief thuddage.

Lesson was good despite sudden wall of wind that pretty much shut us down. Pook was thrilled for a change to see Teacher, and he had some things he wanted me to get a clue on before Stallion Guy arrives. Teacher focused on my hands, since the seat is fairly secure. Keeping left hand especially from wandering around and losing the contact. He was falling through the left shoulder--needed left leg and seatbone, and left contact.

At one point we had an eek, which turned into a crowhopping fit, which had Teacher applauding me and praising Pooka. "Yes, it was a crowhop, but there was a canter stride in there and it was wonderful! And you were glued to the saddle!" Then we went on as before.

Vet was quite late but also quite cheerful. Much praise for Oreo's conformation and overall impression, heightened by his behavior, which was perfect, even for shots. The most he did was look to me for reassurance. Excellent mind that boy has--I'm more impressed with it the more I see of him.

When it comes to cute, he has a lock on it.

And finally, the most common angle at which the camera's eye sees Mr. Congeniality:

In further news, we now have flights for our clinician--there's no going back now. Kayak.com rocks. I had lost the fare I found on Expedia, by a whole honkin' lot. Orbitz claimed all of its cheap fares were gone. And lo, kayak not only got cheaper fares from Orbitz, I was able to get mostly nonstop flights, except for the one that connects through Chicago--a bit dicey in January, but we'll petition the Mother Ship for clear weather that day. He's coming in a day early, which will help; there's a full day between his scheduled arrival and the clinic.

Which is pretty well sold out. We've had two or three rides bouncing around from sold to not sold, but they'll disappear shortly, I'm sure. Even if they don't, we're a going concern. He'll work hard, but so will we.

There are still details to lock in, but the major ones are taken care of. The group that's doing this is awesome; we've got some super people who really know how to put on a party. Anybody who's got some cash and wants to enjoy the sun and warmth in Phoenix in January, come on down! Airfares aren't all that bad, surprisingly--if you know where to look.

In the meantime, oy do I have work either happening now or about to hit like a ton of bricks. So what am I doing? Updating lj, and contemplating an expedition tomorrow to the Fourth Avenue Street Fair, what else?

Pandora says Thank You For The Carrots. May I Have More?

Just to say...

Being utterly and hopelessly horse-less at the moment, I thoroughly enjoy reading about your life among the Lipizzans. Your white horses intrigue me more every day.

A random, spontaneous thank-you post. ;)

Hurrah for progress! Dizzying schedule. And serious cuteness of the baby persuasion.

Hey, the Baroque Majesty has just gone worldwide, Pook's face won a big ole contest. http://www.thespiderawards.com/2007presentation/photoshow/winners/7_nature/index.htm

Congratulations, Lynne. That's just wonderful! It's lovely to see you get that kind of recognition.
