The vet was actually early today, considering he was originally going to be here yesterday. Capria has a very deep but fairly small cut that is clean, has no tendon damage, and will take two weeks to heal. She has antibiotics for four days, and a spiffy hot-pink bandage that is to be changed every couple of days. (She will then be Teal, as that's the color of my large stash of vetrap.)

The cotton he used for wrapping her leg, which is a thin layer of roll cotton inside two woven layers, is called gamgee. I like that.

And now we do meds twice daily with Ms. I Hate That Stuff In My Mouth, and limited turnout (she's in the paddock with keed, sound asleep--so much for moving around to get the swelling down), and bandage changes every two or three days, and no riding until the bandage comes off. And she will be Bored, but that's her own stupid fault. So there.

In the icon, please imagine that the area between the hock and pastern on the left hind is hot pink. That's Capria.

After the vet left, I messed with computers for a while, the Internet connection being down, and printed materials for Horse Camp. I have some spiffy things in that packet, if I say so myself. I (heart) my color printer. I also (heart) my wireless network. My camper will get the experience of bandage changes, medicating a horse, and other delights. We do aim to please.

Meanwhile Pooka is feeling the onslaught of Spring. I think there will be In-Hand Work next lesson day--it will keep his mind busy without overly challenging his feet. There will be Coronet-Band Massage, too, this having been suggested as a good way to encourage hoof growth. (It stimulates the circulation.)

No ride today. My brain is cream cheese. I do feel much better; hardly any shoulder or neck pain, but the tiredness and sense of not-quite-rightness is still there. One more day. Yes.
