A whole lot of things have managed to rattle together in the past week and suddenly Things Is Happening. I wish they were new-book-contract things and and somebody-loved-my-resume-and-hired-me things and definitely-can-keep-the-farm things, but we take what we can get. That's life on the edge.

First, the Book Sale is still happening--ends Friday. Signed Judith Tarr and Caitlin Brennan works. If you don't see something on the list that you'd like to have, email capriole at gmail dot com and I'll see what I can do.

Meanwhile thanks to the Elves and Minions of Book View Cafe, Ars Magica has begun its run on the site. That's a chapter a week to read on the site for free, or buy the ebook at any time. We've got all the e-reader formats plus PDF and html. It's on the front page today and will be running every Monday through July. We've got it on the Amazon Kindle, too (though--psst--one of the formats available on BVC is the Kindle format), and on Smashwords.

This is my novel that started as a seminar paper about Pope Sylvester II, but me being me, I handed in the paper and then wrote the real story about the peasant boy who wanted to learn everything, was reputed to be a magician, and lived under one of those interesting curses that never mean exactly what you think they mean. Nice, chewy historical fantasy to cheer up your Monday.

I'm horseblogging about breeding farms today, too. Serious neep, there.

And then last night I got a little bit OCD and got A Wind in Cairo set up in all the ebook formats BVC offers (thank you, Vonda!). We've got something we're doing with it in the short run, but very soon it will be available for your e-readers. See? I did listen. Watch this space; I'll let you know as soon as it goes live. Meanwhile it is still available in hardcopy at lulu.com, with extra material included in that edition. I'm leaving that there for the time being; BVC as yet doesn't have a print outlet, and it's a very pretty package designed by our own [livejournal.com profile] neutronjockey.

In other news, Pook had his 13th birthday yesterday. First time we've recapitulated the weather he was born in: 38F and sleeting sideways. He was Not A Happy Camper. Luckily the heat is back on today and it's supposed to be nice this week, so he's somewhat mollified.

We may be able to ride again sometime before 2012. Over six inches of rain in the past six weeks has introduced us anew to the concept of Liquid Mud. It's been a long dry spell here in the desert. We've got out of the habit. All together now: We Need The Rain!

ARS MAGICA is a wonderful book. It's one my favorite fictions -ever-! (should anyone need a recco.)
