Odd Evening, with Rain
Mar. 31st, 2004 06:44 pmToday was a bit strange. Quiet, but busy. Much to do to get a farm organized before one goes away for even a couple of days, including watching weather reports to figure out how best to make things easy on the horsesitter as far as horse-arranging goes. She's a pro and good at it, but seven horses including a stallion (who Must Not Ever be allowed within ten feet of the gelding or he will literally rip the big twerp's face off) makes things a little bit complicated. I think I have a solution. We shall see.
The 10 percent chance of rain turned into a bundling up of storms over the mountains and out into the valleys, with blasts of wind and a lot more rain than expected. This is supposed to go on all the while I'm gone. It is also supposed to be a Whole Lot colder especially at night than it's been for the past few weeks, which is hard on the equine system, especially when it's decided it's summer and gone into full shedding mode. Pooka, my Edelweiss, is going to want his blankie And No Mistake. The others, I hope, will be OK. If not, there are blankets, and Tina the sitter knows how to use them.
My main ambition, aside from determining Not to fuss unduly about the farm once I'm away from it, is to take advantage of the chance to veg out in a nice hotel in downtown Phoenix, with nothing scheduled before 11 a.m. either morning, and No Stalls To Clean!!! I only wish I could import some of the other poor stressed Tucson suspects, particularly those who have been down in the trenches nonstop since Friday. Get some rest, guys, OK?
