I tried to take a Mental-Health Day today. Instead I spent most of the afternoon dealing with the fact that someone got my check-card number and took a tiny amount out of my account for something I would never, ever do, buy, or want. Bye-bye check card. My first phish. I'd be touched if I weren't so tired.

But! Inspired by the example of [livejournal.com profile] tcastleb, I worked six horses (longe and groundwork). Did not ride Pooka. I wimped. Shoot me. It was 50 degrees and oog, fibro flare. The hands are the new locus. Makes typing interesting. Allowed me to discover that hulu retains closed captioning (YouTube most emphatically does not). This is less dangerous than it might be--I don't like tying up der puter for the duration of a show or film--but it did allow me to rest my hands while watching the Joss-hommage episode of "Castle," which my DVR had somehow managed not to capture despite a season pass to the show, dadrat it.

The flailing flingers managed to produce two book proposals this week. Agents have pronounced them good. One is off to editor. One has agent go-ahead to write spec chapters. The idea generator is humming along steadily. This "I love it! Write it!" thing, we have not seen in a fair few years. It's nice. May it lead to sales.

I have declared next week to be Steampunk Week. I will be reading, writing/revising, and editing in this delightful new-to-me mode, and I am looking forward to it.

In the meantime, the PR Goddess has been at work. Go see here. There will be other news in good time. Good stuff. As I've been reminded, in my ancestral tradition, this is the New Year. Time for changes. Good ones, Epona willin' and the creek do rise (this being the desert, water in excess is more a good than a bad thing).

ETA I am a terribly bad awful person, because I also wanted to thank everybody for the lovely words about the Frumious Author Photos. And I kept forgetting. You are all very kind.

Okay. I'm out of touch. What is "steampunk?"

I loved the Joss-hommage. "That was your outfit from four years ago. Don't you think it's time to move on?" "But I like it!" Hee.
