Not so Bad this evening
Jul. 7th, 2006 08:08 pmGreen Screen of Death has not reappeared. It seems to be something weird with Windows Media and SP2, or else I hit the wrong key just right in gmail.
In the process of calling Dell Support, I ended up booking repairs for the backup machine, which needs a new keyboard and a new heat sink. For the latter it has to go to the factory. Crap. But when it comes back, one hopes it will be a working machine again.
Extended Warranties Are Your Friend. For computers, especially laptops, they are Not a luxury. I buy the full monty and I've never been sorry.
Pooka is still off in that right fore. Bruise, I'm pretty sure, by the way he's acting. Possibly could be blowing up an abscess--time will tell. However Taminy came out this afternoon, acting like his usual self and wanting his lunch, so we've averted another vet call. He's an old cat (15 or so) and has had a lot of medical problems, but he keeps on keeping on.
Baby Oreo was a Snot this evening. He didn't want to go in the big pen with mom for the night. He wanted to stay out and play. We met the Longe Whip of Doom--all I needed to do was hold it up and make a wall and he got the point. He's his daddy's boy, yes he is. It's a challenge with him because if he's disciplined too strongly, I'll lose the trust I've built up since he came here, but luckily he has the exact same calibrations as Pooka. Makes it much easier to judge how far I can push and when I should back off. He was full of mischief tonight, giving me a Look and boingiting off--cracked me up even while I had to put my stern face on.
Of cuss he had an example to follow. Late this afternoon the dogs suddenly went nuts. I looked out just in time to see the Girlz rounding the corner of the house at speed. They had staged a jailbreak. The mares were still down in the barn, but the Girlz had gone for a run. It didn't last long--they made a beeline for the hay storage and pigged out on the two flakes of alfalfa that were within reach. Big huge galloping whoop. They weren't any trouble to catch; once they'd had their snack, they didn't mind going back in. They're such fierce wild animals.
