Those are sooooooo beautiful.

Last week I took the sixth grade to the annual Medieval Times lunch (they get that as a reward for slogging thru Howard Pyle's Robin Hood, and in preparation for Le Morte d'Arthur). I always love cruising behind the gift shop, where they keep the horses.

[identity profile] dancinghorse.livejournal.com 2006-02-07 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that is neat. Did the kinds enjoy it?

[identity profile] dancinghorse.livejournal.com 2006-02-07 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Er. Kids. Urg.

[identity profile] sartorias.livejournal.com 2006-02-07 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
The kids always love Medieval Times. EVery single year, soon's the new sixth grade comes in, their very first question is, "Do we get to go to Medieval Times?"

Wonderful pictures, thanks for sharing. :)

You're welcome.

Love Salma as your icon. :)

[identity profile] dancinghorse.livejournal.com 2006-02-07 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
:)

When they have the whees en masse, it's a grand show. Airs everywhere!

[identity profile] mizkit.livejournal.com 2006-02-07 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
*sits here and reads your icon with fascination* What is that? It's creepy and wonderful.

[identity profile] smoemeth.livejournal.com 2006-02-07 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
The text is the song "Slumber Queen", by my Supreme Musical Goddess Veda Hille. The music is creepy and wonderful, too. :)

NICE piccies.

:) Thanks.

Lovely.

Embarrassingly enough, I didn't realize Lipizzans came in any color but white until right now.

[identity profile] mizkit.livejournal.com 2006-02-07 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
I believe they start out dark and get their white coats as they grow up!

Though some do come in (and remain) bay. (I don't know anything about 'em except that they exist.)

[identity profile] casacorona.livejournal.com 2006-02-07 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
Lipizzans are mostly gray, which means they start out dark and turn white as they grow up; some faster, some slower. About 1 in 500 or so stays dark -- bay, seal brown, or black. The School always keeps a dark stallion in training, for luck, they say. Charlie Horse Acres in Graham Washington has a gorgeous bay mare. We know that Pooka's sire is heterozygous for gray, meaning that there's a 50-50 chance, when breeding him to a non-gray mare, of getting a non-gray baby. (The graying gene is dominant.)

Tia is a gray; she'll turn white as she matures. You can tell even when they're babies, because the grays have white around their eyes when they're born.

[identity profile] dancinghorse.livejournal.com 2006-02-07 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. You can see the silver coming through around the flanks.

[identity profile] seachanges.livejournal.com 2006-02-07 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I think my favorite stage is right in the middle when they look like dappled pewter.

[identity profile] mizkit.livejournal.com 2006-02-07 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Your Pooka of the Poop Piles is missing his horn. What'd you do, digitally erase it so nobody knew the truth? It didn't work. That's obviously a mythical beast there. :)

And that last one of Tia is just goooorgeous. Sassy pony!

[identity profile] dancinghorse.livejournal.com 2006-02-07 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks.

I must have a thing for war mares. Camilla looks magnificent.

Ooooo. *saves for further horsey drawing reference*

Did you draw your icon? It is stunning.

Yep, although the original is not all green, it's oranges and yellows. :) If my site were still hosted, I'd have more stuff to link to than what's in my Zazzle gallery but I was cheap and it appears that they are no longer in the google cache.

My piccies are nowhere as nice. I am, however, going to put them in your hands any year now.

signed, the infinitely lazy

[identity profile] dancinghorse.livejournal.com 2006-02-07 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll look forward to them whenever they get here.

:D.

[identity profile] galeni.livejournal.com 2006-02-07 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow.

I love the pictures on your new website, too.

Just...wow.

Ah. Horse fix.

All is right in the world...
