Horse Cuteness and Weekend Quizzage

Sometimes horses are just damned cute. At lunch I was puttering around as usual, paused to snuggle Tia because, well, you know, and suddenly there was Pandora, pushing her beeg ole haid into my arms and holding it there for a few moments just because. She's my giant snugglebunny. (McCaffrey fans will recognize the moment from The White Dragon. She's not much smaller than Ruth.)

Even Capria has been huggy recently. Must be a phase. Usually she doesn't go for that gooey stuff.

There are new photos on the farm website--click through to the Family, Camilla, Gaudia, and Tia pages.

And from [livejournal.com profile] suricattus, a quiz.

I'm a Talent!

You're a risk-taker, and you follow your passions. You're determined to take on the world and succeed on your own terms. Whether in the arts, science, engineering, business, or politics, you fearlessly express your own vision of the world. You're not afraid of a fight, and you're not afraid to bet your future on your own abilities. If you find a job boring or stifling, you're already preparing your resume. You believe in doing what you love, and you're not willing to settle for an ordinary life.

Talent: 56%
Lifer: 18%
Mandarin: 54%

Take the Talent, Lifer, or Mandarin quiz.

That absolutely gorgeous head shot of Capria and Khepera cries out to be icon-ned. :)

[identity profile] dancinghorse.livejournal.com 2006-04-30 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Been there, done that. :)

[identity profile] simplystars.livejournal.com 2006-04-30 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! They're so beautiful. :)

[identity profile] dancinghorse.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
We kind of tend to agree with you. ;>

[identity profile] xianghua.livejournal.com 2006-04-30 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwwww. Quincy does the "You WILL hug me" thing too and it's most adorable- she's actually the first horse I've ever had who did it. (Well, Copper, the gelding I rode in high school did, but only as a way to get things out of your pockets and eat them. Once he chewed up my car beeper alarm-setter thingy. Mom was NOT amused.)

[identity profile] dancinghorse.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
The others will hug, but Pandora is the first to do the "Hold my nose!" thang. Her head is as big as my torso. Very solidly huggable.

[identity profile] electricland.livejournal.com 2006-04-30 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, those are gorgeous!

Apparently I'm a mandarin. Barely.

[identity profile] dancinghorse.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I could be, I think because I hate financial insecurity, but at the same time I'm a risk-taker so...

Tia is sooo pretty. and that trot!

[identity profile] ksenour.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 10:20 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my word... seriously, you have the prettiest babies on earth. Just wow. I am incredibly jealous that you get to see them every day. You don't need like, a live in stable hand do you? I muck and feed and give hours of adoring attention?

[identity profile] ksenour.livejournal.com 2006-05-02 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Be careful... I just might show up on your doorstep if you aren't careful!!

. . . . Department of the redundancy Department . . . .

I need to read things before I post them.

Whenever you say 'barn' I think of an enclosed structure meant to keep rain and sleet out.

I was seriously boggled by the pictures of yours ;-)

The gang looks great. The double headshot of Capria and Keed - gorgeous.
Camilla is beginning to look more mature, too.

I really need to find out some time whether I 'need' a 16hh Lipp...

[identity profile] dancinghorse.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
You are going to win a lottery and come out here and ride Pandora. You Know This.

I know what you mean about the barn. I came from New England--same parameters. Everything here looked so al fresco when I first arrived. What, no walls? Barely a roof? But in this climate, it makes sense. The one thing I want to do is close off the ends so when we get our winter rains, there's more shelter, but otherwise the airiness of it is really necessary.

The stallion barn actually has walls--solid on two sides, half-walls with pipe bars close together on the other two. It's hot in there if I close a horse in in the summer, which I never do--the big door stays open to the run, which is shaded by a large tree.

Never mind the rude person in the icon--that's the stallion barn beyond her.

Pandora IS a giant snugglebunny, yeppers. Belated birthday wishes to Ms. Tia! And happy birthday to Ms. Twix, 2 years old today, future reining horse only she does canter pirouettes instead of rollbacks.

[identity profile] raithen.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 11:48 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! I was thinking JUST this morning that Twix's birthday was soon!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Miss Twix the 2 year old!!

JJ sends carrots and joins you in cavorting about!

[identity profile] raithen.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 12:05 pm (UTC)(link)
also, the head shot of Twix in Ember's gallery? That girl. Wow!

And Ember is SOOOOOO lovely, too, in those shots (I'm so the sucker for grey Ayrab girls - being owned by one and all - but I can't take shots like you do!).

AND AND AND! I get to meet Peggy in 2 weeks! She is teaching a 2 week clinic in Veron and Joy and I are gonna be there!! **whee**

[identity profile] lynnesite.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, Twix likes to pose, that helps too. And Ember is my main muse. Today I asked Twix if she'd like to stand on a stack of plywood sheets with me, 32" wide x 8 feet long, just below my knee high. She unhesitatingly stepped up there. I dropped the lead rope and walked around her, gave her scritchies. She liked the view. Stayed up there until I got down and invited her to join me. Tomorrow we'll try walking up on the stack with back legs too, but I think she really likes the fronts up the most--she'd make quite the Cavalia-pony. Fred Pignon had quite an influence on me,and I use what little technique soaked in. (Shot for them for 4 days in Houston in Feb.)

You'll so enjoy Peggy, hope to do a full clinic with her someday. As well as work with Joni more. Maybe Twix and I will come to Camp Lipizzan for a visit and some groundwork lessons with Joni one of these days, before Em's next breeding I hope. Anyone interested in Twix III?

[identity profile] dancinghorse.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Happy birthday to Her Twixness! Two years old, who'd'a thunk it?

Maybe Twix and I will come to Camp Lipizzan for a visit and some groundwork lessons with Joni one of these days, before Em's next breeding I hope.

That would be a whole lotta fun. Just say when. :)

I didn't check to see if anyone has suggested this -- but when I lose a family animal, the others stay closer to me, and want both reassurance and to reassure, if that makes sense.

They needed you, and knew you needed them.
