SQUEEEEE!

Just heard this morning that The Mountain's Call (excerpt on the website--click the Brennan author link at the bottom of the page the link takes you to) is a Romantic Times Book Club Top Pick for September, with four and a half stars. This is a big deal. Serious bragging rights.

SQUEEEEEEE!

They like it! They really, really like it!

....

I needed the boost. Lots of stress that I don't want to talk about and jinx the possible good stuff, combined with trip fatigue, knocked me down and out with a CFS attack. I'm measuring out my energy in milligrams. Horse chores, check. Nap, check. Ride (at about half capacity), check. Go Thud, check. Write Pages (after going braindead for a week), check. Crash, check. Historical fantasy is in the homestretch--target for first draft is mid-September. We'll see if I make it.

ARC update: Heard from ebay too late to stop the auction, but them as said file a VeRO report were right. That's what they told me to do, and yes, they said the reason it seems to be only about electronic media is because that's where most of the violations are. I'll keep an eye out and file a report if this happens again--or if any of the usual suspects is similarly treated, that's what you can do, too. Ebay is concerned about this issue and doesn't mess around. Muchas gracias to all who weighed in on the subject.

Riding has had to ramp down a bit because of the energy rationing, but I've kept up mostly with the crew. Last week I found myself longeing three horses at once: Capria on the line, Carrma right behind her, and Ephiny behind that. Carrma was so insistent, I had to tog her up and give her a longe after Capria. I guess she wants to be a working girl. Saturday's lesson went well. Keed is in total hatrack phase, no topline left, but still is getting it about his dressage. If and when he ever stops growing, he's going to be a nice big tank. Capria was acing the pole work. Capria loves her poles. We'll get collection on her, and a good canter, that way, I think.

Pook has finally figured out the trot, notably the transitions into and out of it, and I'm finally getting it when he starts to get pacey in the walk, so I'm better able to correct it. So that's progress, too.

And Camilla is about ready for me to get back on her. Go Us.

Yeay!!!

I signed up for Luna's book service because of you, so I won't miss any. My local bookstores don't seem to carry this line.

Why, thank you. I hope you enjoy the other books. I've liked the ones I've read so far--they're solid stuff. Good company to be in.

Just returned (a few days ago, seems like yesterday) from RWA con in Dallas. CONGRATULATIONS! Way to go. :) I enjoy your work and look forward to reading more.

(I have cfs too, bummer, hope you feel better :)

P.S. Are those your kids on the cover? :-)

[identity profile] dancinghorse.livejournal.com 2004-08-07 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope--but they're relatives. Young stallions from the herd at Piber.

Yeah!

Conga Rats are called for! Many congrats on a fine pick-me-up to your day. Wishing you more energy and CFS remission soon.

(I know about Thud--they upped the drugs, #$%#$! Yes, I know it's necessary, but the transitions are what going into and out of real warp must be like...not fun.)

Sympathies. Poor baby. I hope you feel better now.
