The Most Beautiful Spring There Ever Was (and Camp)

I'm taking a day off after a very busy and intense week of April Camp. It was, from my perspective, a tremendous success. It was also a non-writing, all-horse Camp, which meant days in the barn plus sightseeing and visitors. We rode, we drove hither and yon, we rode some more. We ate much good food. [livejournal.com profile] tcastleb is an enthusiastic convert to the concept of the cheese platter, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] birdhousefrog. Nom.

[livejournal.com profile] birdhousefrog has blogged, with photos, her experience. I've posted a whole lot of photos of our Beltane expedition to Saguaro National Park East. I've never seen so many wildflowers, and they've never lasted so long--thanks to a much cooler than normal spring after a phenomenally wet winter.

I'll have additions to Ephiny's Training Diary realsoonnow, but today is a brain-free day. The wind is horrendous; I'm keeping an eye on the barn to make sure it doesn't blow to El Paso. Otherwise I'm essentially a puddle.

Yes, the flowers were great this year. They've faded around Phoenix now, but the mountains were covered with Mexican poppies.

I'm off to Seattle in the morning, for a train trip to Atlanta via Chicago and Washington DC. I was going to go see Mt. Rainier before leaving Seattle, but there's a heavy snow warning so I'll have to do something else.

Have a great trip! I hope the mountain comes out for you after all.
